"Electric Love" Inspired Broadsides
About
When tasked to create a dual poster set revolving around a song, I was inspired by "Electric Love" by BORNS for its riveting lyrics and nostalgic energy.
The challenge? Create separate posters based on typography and imagery. Let's dive into it
When coming up with how the typography-based poster would look like...
I focused on the lyrics of the words and was selective in which verses I wanted to emphasize and give priority to. Color combinations were also important to me, so I opted for a purple monochromatic color scheme with white undertones to allude to lightning storms and the mystery that one feels from an affection first crush.

Designing the imagery-based poster to stand out against the alternative poster meant that I...
Would have to forgo the lightning motif from the first poster. Instead, I depicted the song as though it were live from a concert itself to convey the idea of energy, almost intimately, from person to person. Furthermore, I deconstructed a formal grid pattern to further establish a sense of chaos and organicism.

Phase Two: Image Broadside
Integrating Images/Colors, Grids, and Text
Moving away from the lightning motif, I wanted to allude to a different type of vibrant energy - concerts.

The next series of posters are based on the color schemes of the photos themselves and are based on the implied grid systems within them.

With this poster, I wanted to play with the idea of how much I could truly push a grid system.

One of my favorite concepts was to push the words onto the implied grid lines coming from the light rays and the audience themselves.
By playing with intersecting lines and a opacity-based gradient, I achieved a static, yet pulsating, effect on words/verses that repeated often in the song.

When all is said and done...
